Welcome to Craigmillar Medical Group

We are a modern general practice in the heart of Craigmillar and Niddrie offering a wide range of services to our patients. We are committed to providing high quality holistic care for all our patients and are always looking at new ways to improve our service.

Our practice team consists of doctors, a nurse practitioner, practice nurses, health care assistants, mental health nurses, a physiotherapist, community link worker and care coordinators. We work closely with the extended community team of health visitors, district nurses, and midwives. We are a dedicated teaching and training practice, providing teaching to medical students and trainee GPs.

Our building is also used by other NHS services such as CAMHS and sexual health, as well as a variety of groups from the community including Citizens Advice Bureau and ELCA, bringing care to the centre of the community.

Please note that all calls will be recorded for training and monitoring purposes.

We take patient confidentiality extremely seriously.  Having relationships of trust is fundamental to everything we do for our patients.  We ensure that all our staff are up to date with their training on confidentiality and the NHS Lothian policy on use of social media.  Please be assured that we will always treat the information you share with us with the respect, sensitivity and confidentiality that you deserve.

We hope that the information in this website will help you to make best use of our services and promote your best health and wellbeing.

CCTV is in operation in and around the surgery building. This is for the purposes of crime prevention and public safety and our equipment complies with the Data Protection Act (GDPR) 2018.

News & Announcements

Important update July 2021:

On 19th July 2021 we moved to Level 0 in Edinburgh but the rules in healthcare settings have not changed.

  • The front door remains closed and we ask that only those who have been told to attend for an appointment or other reason come to the practice.  Please use the intercom.
  • Wearing of a face mask is compulsory in the practice building.
  • 2 metre distancing still applies in our waiting area.
  • If you have any possible COVID symptoms then please have PCR test done (lateral flow testing is not sensitive enough to exclude COVID-19, especially if you have symptoms).  You will not be seen in the practice if you have symptoms consistent with COVID and no PCR test result.

Asymptomatic and symptomatic PCR testing is available in our practice car park (week of 19/7/21).

Everyone over the age of 18 who has not received the first dose of the vaccine and not previously registered can now do so by going to NHS Inform. This means that you will receive alerts and appointment details by text rather than by post.

If you don’t have access to the internet you can still register for SMS and email updates by calling the COVID-19 Vaccination Helpline on 0800 030 8013.

If you are over 40 and have not been vaccinated we will be running some clinics in the practice during July. Please call the practice to book your appointment on 0131 322 2111.

Most importantly please attend your COVID vaccination appointment.  Being vaccinated is the best way out of this pandemic.

More information about COVID-19 and vaccinations can be found on our dedicated webpage.

If you are concerned about symptoms of COVID please call 111, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
