Welcome to Craigmillar Medical Group

We are a modern general practice in the heart of Craigmillar and Niddrie offering a wide range of services to our patients. We are committed to providing high quality holistic care for all our patients and are always looking at new ways to improve our service.

Our practice team consists of doctors, an advanced nurse practitioner, a physician associate, practice nurses, health care assistants, mental health nurses, a community link worker and care coordinators. We work closely with the extended community team of health visitors, district nurses, and midwives. We are a dedicated teaching and training practice, providing teaching to medical students and trainee GPs.

Our building is also used by other NHS services such as CAMHS, Chalmers Sexual Health, Thrive Mental Health drop in clinic, as well as a variety of groups from the community including Citizens Advice Bureau and ELCA, bringing care to the centre of the community.

We take patient confidentiality extremely seriously.  Having relationships of trust is fundamental to everything we do for our patients.  We ensure that all our staff are up to date with their training on confidentiality and the NHS Lothian policy on use of social media.  Please be assured that we will always treat the information you share with us with the respect, sensitivity and confidentiality that you deserve.

We hope that the information in this website will help you to make best use of our services and promote your best health and wellbeing.

Zero Tolerance

Please note that all calls will be recorded for training and monitoring purposes.

As a Practice we are aware that calling or visiting the practice can, at times, be stressful and concerning for patients. We always strive to meet patient expectations and deliver the highest standards of healthcare. For the vast majority of our patients we achieve this, despite the finite resources and steadily increasing demand for services that exists today within the NHS.

Our staff come to work to care for others, and it is important for all members of the public and our staff to be treated with respect. We therefore have a Dignity at Work and Zero Tolerance policy, whereby aggressive or violent behaviour towards our staff will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Any patient who verbally abuses a member of practice staff will be sent a letter from the Practice confirming that this behaviour will not be tolerated. Any future violation of this policy may result in removal from our practice list. The Police will be called in all cases of violence.

CCTV is in operation in and around the surgery building. This is for the purposes of crime prevention and public safety and our equipment complies with the Data Protection Act (GDPR) 2018.
